A problem with EA's server?

Today I bought the digital download of The Sims 3 Generations from Amazon, and after installing it I tried to play the game, but I keep getting the message "There is a problem connecting to the server. Please ensure your internet connection is active. If the problem persists try again later." I have tried turning off the firewall, but that didn't help at all. Can someone help me fix this problem?
